How Does Johnny Jaws Improve Driver Safety?

Route drivers share why Johnny Jaws feels safer than riding on the back of a rear-load truck.

Why These Drivers Feels Safer with Johnny Jaws

Driver safety is one of the biggest reasons fleets are looking at Johnny Jaws. This video catches a driver in the middle of a real mixed-route test at an apartment complex. He's running a front-load truck with Johnny Jaws on metal rear-load dumpsters, and he's asked how the route felt and what stood out.

His answer keeps coming back to safety. He doesn't have to get out of the cab, climb onto the back of the truck, or mess with the handles while cars are flying past. The job that usually takes 30 minutes got done in 15, but it's the safety side he focuses on. As he puts it, "safety-wise, this is an excellent pick."

If your route mixes front-load and rear-load stops, hearing the safety case straight from a driver tells you more than any spec sheet.

00:00: How do you feel going on this route? How's the Johnny Jaws performing? Would you recommend it to anybody else in this apartment complex? You were behind the vehicle, how'd you feel driving?

00:09: Good. Nice and easy and quick. Maybe we knocked out 20 minutes out of one side. It'll take half an hour, we did it in 15.

00:17: So you did it by yourself?

00:23: Yeah, basically. Yeah, it's good. Good, I like it.

00:23: Does it feel better being, like, you have the cameras in your truck and you know you're using the Johnny Jaws? You don't have to be on the back of the truck.

00:28: Well, I feel better. For safety, yeah. Safety is the main issue. So yeah, good.

00:31: How do you feel about, like, seeing it in action? Pretty cool?

00:38: I like that, the time that it takes. That'll take off from going to the rear and messing with the handles. Safety-wise, I don't have to worry about a driver getting out, standing on the back, moving levers while cars are flying past them. So safety-wise, this is an excellent pick.
