How much does Johnny Jaws cost?
Final pricing depends on a few factors unique to your operation. Before we put a real number on paper, we ask for photos of your trucks and dumpsters and take time to understand how your operation runs. That way we can first determine whether Johnny Jaws is the right fit for you, and then provide an accurate quote.
At Johnny Jaws we practice Fair Market Pricing. That means every Johnny Jaws customer gets the same price, whether you reach out to one of our independent regional rep organizations or contact us directly. We believe in full transparency across every transaction.

How can I determine if Johnny Jaws is the right fit for my operation that will save me time, make me money and keep my operators safe... isn't there a competitor?
Our customers tell us the only system that comes close is the installation of side-pockets. Then they also tell us, after they look at the videos and use our White Paper to run their numbers, it's no contest.

Do you sell trucks?
No... Johnny Jaws is an aftermarket product that can be installed on almost any front-load truck to enable it to service both front and rear-load cans at the same stop in under :50 seconds each. We can, however, assist in locating front-load trucks for our customers through our Nationwide Installer - Trainer - Service - Sales Network of service companies.

Can Johnny Jaws service composite cans?
In most cases they cannot. We always ask potential customers to send us pictures of both their typical can and a head-on view of the truck's fork assembly to ensure the Jaws are compatible before we send out a quote.

Can the system handle fully loaded and heavy 4-yard dumpsters?
Yes. A set of Johnny Jaws can service most ANSI Standard metal cans up to 4 cubic yards in volume. The truck's fork system will fail before the Jaws. The system has been tested in the lab and in the field over 10 years to handle up to a 10,000 lbs load. If the dumpster does not break and the truck can handle the lift, Johnny Jaws will handle the job.
We manufacture and recommend our Booster System™ for those customers that service a large and/or heavy number of 4-yard cans. This system adds two [2] additional airbags to support the weight of the load on the front panel of the can.

Does the system work on pretty much any rear-load dumpster?
Yes. A set of Johnny Jaws can service most ANSI Standard metal rear-load cans up to 4 cubic yards in volume and is made to be modified to operate on most all ANSI Standard dump trucks. The truck's fork system or the dumpster will fail before the Jaws. The reason they cannot service cans over four yards is because they extend too high in the air and the refuse falls outside the truck's hopper due to gravity.

Installation, Training & Maintenance
How long does it take to train my route drivers on Johnny Jaws?
Most experienced front-load drivers pick it up in a route or two. The operation only adds a couple switches to what they already do every day, so it's mostly muscle memory from there. The training itself takes a few minutes on the truck, then it's just real-world reps on the route.

What are the most common problems reported by customers with the system?
Customers report the occasional airbag, and a very small percentage of cylinder, failures. We recommend purchasing our spare parts package. Most such problems can be avoided if your mechanics or operators follow the weekly recommended 15 minute maintenance protocol.
Over the years, almost every significant problem has been ultimately attributed by our "customers" to be caused by operator abuse. As everyone in the industry knows, you can break anything if you don't follow the procedures or take short cuts.
Johnny Jaws has been over-engineered to take a beating. We back that up with our warranty.

Where, when and how long does it take to install a set of Johnny Jaws and to train our mechanics and operators?
Using our Installation and Training Videos, your mechanics can do the installation and training within one day. If you need additional instructions you can call us for assistance on the phone or through a video call.

Safety & Productivity
How does Johnny Jaws improve driver safety?
Riding on the back of a rear-load truck is one of the most dangerous jobs in the waste industry. Drivers and helpers are exposed to traffic, weather, and the constant physical wear of climbing on and off the step.
Johnny Jaws keeps your driver in the cab. A front-load truck can service both front-load containers and metal rear-load dumpsters by gripping the trunnion bars on each side. No rear step, no manual hookup, no walking into traffic.
For haulers running mixed routes, that means fewer manual interactions, less exposure to jobsite hazards, and a real reduction in injury risk and liability.

What prevents the cans from falling into the hopper?
The Jaws are constructed to empty the can at 90 degrees vertical. The operator can take the can past vertical if needed to fully empty the occasional stubborn refuse that does not fall out on its own. But at no time can it release from the Jaws into the hopper, unless the operator releases the cylinders from inside the truck.

Why do your customers call Johnny Jaws "the unfair advantage" and "the utility infielder" of the Waste Management industry?
Our customers tell us it is very hard for another company that does not have Johnny Jaws to underbid them on both their mixed front and rear-load routes and on all rear-load routes because of the speed at which they can operate.... No need to run two crews on mixed routes, and under :50 service time vs. 5 to 12 minutes a can on all rear-load routes.

Can the dumpster fall out of the Jaws once the cylinders are engaged?
No. Once the trunnion bar is properly locked in place with the cylinders, it cannot come out until the operator releases them from inside the cab.
Even if the hydraulic lines are cut, the engine and/or the pneumatics fail, or if the truck is in an accident, the cylinders fail closed and locked so the can will not come loose.
